Like the older DVD set, each movie is separated onto two discs, so the ripped movies are also split into two files. In the movie, Arwen’s given a bigger role, and their relationship is brought into the narrative. In the books, their love story is told, but it’s only in the appendices, and Arwen doesn’t do things like rescue Frodo. Also, the movies up the stakes on Arwen’s life even further, but the overall tone of the story is more hopeful in the books. The extended versions are so much better than the theatrical DVD you don't even want to give your theatrical versions away to charitybecause you know you're robbing someone else of the experience of the extended versions. So you just throw them away in the trash, and although it hurts, you can rest assured knowing you did the right thing.
