The740 is a super 240 (which is a super 144 heh) and the 940 is the final evolution of that. There's a lot of scuttlebutt out there about a Volvo lasting forever - And Redblock Volvos like a 740 will HOWEVER - If you aren't a mechanic, don't think you can buy a 200k Volvo 7/940 and not have minor repairs nickel and dime you to the poorhouse

The1.6d only needed a new alternator and 30€ belt, otherwise no issues at all in those 6 years. The newer D3-D5 are 100% Volvo and I haven't heard of someone having problems. If you buy used, try the 5 cylinder D3/D4, massive torque and beautiful sound. The 110hp D2, based on the 1.6d and upgraded by Volvo, needs less particle filter
OtakuSan617. Additional comment actions. That’s for sure. I have a 1964 544 Sport. One of the first cars with a 3 point seat belt. 35 years ago it was in an accident totaled 2 other cars. My dad just pried the fan out from the radiator and drove it off to the auto body shop.
Burntbigtoe • 2 yr. ago. In Australia a Landcruiser isn't a stealth wealth car really. For sure wealthy people drive them, and they are expensive, base model 200 series started at about $80k, mid range (still with cloth seats) about $100k and high end ones about $130k, but people from many walks of life drive them.
Mostmodern cars are safe, absolutely. But Volvo still stands above the pack. Their work with automation safety, driver awareness and other tech is still best in class and nearly
WhitBatmobil. • 2 yr. ago. The i5d is a rock soild engine, probably one of the best Volvo has made along with the later VED5 (with the VED5 being better at making power and just about as reliable as the i5d). The D5 in the V50 and P1 chassi is the i5d. Not to scare you or anything, but every thing in/on a car can fail if you are unlucky enough.
Itisn’t true that an engine running on regular gas runs more efficiently on premium, because any octane above the required is unnecessary, but it is true of an engine designed for higher octane fuel. Any octane rating higher than what your engine needs is basically wasted because the engine ignites the fuel as soon as it’s ready.
Curiousif leasing is still attractive, seeing less and less deals now a days. I write off my vehicle so it is a good option for me. Leasing is very very expensive right now. Priced out $50,000 XC40 at $1,000 per month the other day. $7500.00 tax credit and no acquisition fee is enough not to lease any ev or phev.
24 5 cylinder petrol is what I have now and out of 4 cars I've had in past 2 years, I like this one the most. It is not economical in the city ( 10l+/100km ) and it is lazy, but it pulls good on low revs and does so quietly and without drama.
